Top Ten Hardest Guitar Hero Songs

This list excludes custom songs and is based on both passing difficulty and FCing difficulty. FC stands for full combo. I will also give reasons. These are based on expert difficulty.

10 – SPEEDING from GH Warriors of Rock

This song has a very difficult intro that has been my doom a couple of times. The rest of the song can easily confuse less skilled players, and once you’re confused, its not easy to get out of failing. The song has a few breaks, however, and now I can pass it pretty much every time. The trick is, for the intro, hold down the green button.

9 – THIS DAY WE FIGHT from GH Warriors of Rock

This song isn’t too hard to pass, but in my opinion it is very difficult to FC. This song has pretty much no breaks, and the whole thing is reasonably difficult. There is one very fast solo that is EXTREMELY difficult to FC. There is a pattern, but it’s way too fast for me. Also, it comes after a long period of strumming, so it can catch a first-timer off guard. The song has a lot of patterns and isn’t too fast for the most part, so it isn’t quite as bad as others on the list.

8 – SURFING WITH THE ALIEN from GH3

The song is very easy for expert standards – until you get to a two and a half measure long alternating trill that goes at eight notes per beat at approximately 145 bpm. I ALWAYS fail that part. That may have something to do with the lag on my guitar, but it is so annoying. The rest of the song isn’t too hard once you have the trill down, but ARGHHH!!!

7 – SUDDEN DEATH from GH Warriors of Rock

The intro of this song is difficult to FC. It’s long for an intro, and it’s fast. After the intro you get to easy strumming patterns interrupted by annoying riffs (hard to FC). The chorus is a pushover. The solo is not. It’s not easy for me to even pass, let alone FC. Some of it has very quick patterns, but some of it has fast random stuff, so not easy at all.

6 – BLACK WIDOW DE LA PORTE from GH Warriors of Rock

Man, Warriors of Rock has a lot of hard songs! This one is much harder to FC than pass. There are relatively sparse difficult parts, though most of them have patterns. There is one near the end that has no pattern, so… yeah…. I’m not even close to FCing this one. Oh, and I forgot to mention IT’S NEARLY EIGHT MINUTES LONG!!!!!!

5 – ERUPTION from GH Van Halen

This entire song is a guitar solo. Equally difficult to FC as it is to pass, most of the song is extremely fast and requires extreme double-tap skills. The only good thing about this is it’s short, just like this description.

4 – JORDAN from GH2

This song is another big solo. The first and last parts are easy. The middle? Not so much. This song I still haven’t passed (along with numbers 5 and 1). And it’s all because of my favorite: double-tapping! This has double tapping more insane and longer than Surfing With The Alien. And after that, you have to deal with fast fingering and crummy hammer-ons.

3 - THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES from GH3 and GH Smash Hits

This song will test every aspect of your skills. The intro requires very good double taps, you need very precise strumming for the verses, and the solos are just to try to see how fast your fingers move. This song is very difficult to pass and very difficult to FC. Although, most people rank it higher than I did.

2 – FURY OF THE STORM from GH Warriors of Rock

This song will kill both of your arms. You start with a fast intro that’s not too bad, if you’re quick and can catch the pattern. Then you must strum for your life or die, because the next couple minutes are a lot of strumming. chorus isn’t bad, then more strumming. Then a solo that will murder your other arm. And guess what? MORE DOUBLE-TAPPING!!! This solo is even harder than Jordan. That alone should make this worthy of its spot.

1 – THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA from GH3

I haven’t passed this. Not even close. Only two or three people have EVER FCed this. It is absolutely INSANE. All you have to do is watch a video of this and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Two extremely fast and long solos, the second of which I’ve only gotten to on Practice, with insane double-tapps, alternating fingers, trills, lightning-fast strumming, EVERYTHING. It is literally designed to beat you.
